Felixstowe Receives Cranes for New Rail Terminal

 
The Port of Felixstowe has received delivery of three rail-mounted gantry cranes, which form part of a new rail terminal at the U.K. port.
These first three RMGs, manufactured by Liebherr in Ireland, will span the new nine-track rail terminal at the port, which is expected to open this summer, according to Clemence Cheng, CEO of Hutchison Ports, which owns the Port of Felixstowe.
"When the new rail terminal is opened this year, together with our existing two rail terminals, we will have a total (of) 20 rail tracks, more than London King’s Cross Station," Cheng said in a written statement. "It will double our rail-handling capacity."
