Port of New York & New Jersey Launches ExpressRail Working Group

A working group comprising terminal operators, CSX and Norfolk Southern railroads, and the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has been formed to improve service reliability in the wake of this summers operational problems at the port.
 
The group plans to meet quarterly to address concerns in operating practices and the rail network. The first session was held on Sept. 17.
 
New York Container Terminal and the port authority noted that they have begun to build tracks 6 and 7 at the Staten Island Terminal. The total project will offer another 3,000 feet of track and is expected to finish in May 2014.

    继今年夏季港口操作出现问题后，码头运营商、CSX运输公司、诺福克南方铁路和纽约-新泽西州港务局共同组成工作小组，以提高港口服务的可靠性。
 
    该工作小组计划每季度举行一次会议，以解决在操作方式和铁路网络上的问题。其中，第一次会议已于9月17日举行。
 
    目前，纽约港集装箱码头和港务局指出，他们已经开始在Staten码头建设轨道6和轨道7。该总项目预计到2014年5月完成，将还提供另外3000英尺的轨道。
