AAPA urges Obama to send in federal mediators to fix west coast dock talks
The American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), representing public seaports in the Americas, has urged US President Barack Obama to assign federal mediators to resolve the contract dispute between the International Longshore and Warehouse Union (ILWU) and the Pacific Maritime Association (PMA), according to Shipping Gazette.
"America's seaports are absolutely vital to our economy, jobs and international competitiveness," said AAPA president and CEO Kurt Nagle in a letter to the president.
