LA port truck drivers become employees and vote to join Teamsters union

HARBOUR truckers who work for Los Angeles-based Shippers Transport Express, a unit of SSA Marine, have voted 88-23 to join the Teamsters union having changed their status to become employees rather than independent contractors.

In November, Shippers Transport drivers were notified that the company was adopting an employee-based business model from January 1 and were invited to apply for employee jobs.

洛杉矶港卡车司机成为正式员工并投票同意加入工会

    为洛杉矶托运人运输公司工作的卡车司机共同投票，以88票对23票通过加入工会的提议。卡车司机的身份由此从独立承包商变成了正式员工。   

   11月，托运人运输公司告知司机从2015年1月1日起将采用雇佣的商业模式，并邀请司机申请员工职位。
