LA port to join Long Beach in imposing new eco-costs on customers
The ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach plan to impose new costs on truckers, railways, shippers, steamship lines and terminal operators as they accelerate an activist environmental campaign, reports the American Journal of Transportation.
The ports will no longer restrict their role as landlords, allowing tenants a free hand, but instead follow up on mandates like the clean truck programme and night-time deliveries to reduce daytime congestion and emissions.
