U.S. Announces $1.3 million Funding for Vessel Emission Reduction and Alternative Energy Projects

U.S. based Maritime Administration (MARAD) announced Friday that it is now offering up to $1.3 Million in Federal funding for projects supporting vessel emissions reductions including scrubbing technology, and alternative energy.

The first is focused on exhaust gas cleaning demonstration projects that remove pollutants from the stacks of marine vessels, while the second will focus on projects that demonstrate vessel emissions reductions through the use of alternative fuels or energy sources such as LNG or fuel cells, and improvements in vessel energy efficiency through use of conservation technology and practices.
