Port joins waste to syngas project

The Port of Rotterdam joins a Dutch project group to investigate the possibillities to use waste to make feedstock for chemical products. late last year. The group was, late 2014,  initially formed by AkzoNobel, Canadian company Enerkem and four regional partners. The first European plant based on Enerkem’s technology could be situated in the Rotterdam port area.

The participants aim to use Enerkem’s technology to manufacture synthesis gas from domestic and other waste and use it as a feedstock for making products such as methanol and ammonia.The partners will publish the results of the study later this year.
